Minimum Wage Update in British Columbia! 🇨🇦

▪️ Effective June 1, 2024, BC's minimum wage will rise to $17.40 per hour, the highest in Canada.

▪️ This 65-cent increase (3.9%) aligns with BC's average inflation rate.

▪️ The new minimum wage applies to all workers, regardless of how they are paid.

▪️ Employers must compensate any shortfall if an employee's salary falls below the minimum wage for hours worked.

▪️ Special minimum wages will also increase for liquor servers, live-in camp leaders, live-in home support workers, and resident caretakers on June 1.

▪️ Liquor servers will earn $17.40 per hour plus tips.

▪️ Live-in camp leaders' daily rate will increase from $133.69 to $138.93.

▪️ Live-in home support workers' daily minimum will rise from $124.73 to $129.62.
