Attention International Students in Canada! 🇨🇦🎓

The Canadian government has announced a crucial update regarding Post-Graduation Work Permits (PGWP): As of now, you can no longer apply for your PGWP at the border, a practice previously known as "flagpoling."🇨🇦

What is Flagpoling?🤔
Flagpoling occurs when someone leaves Canada and immediately re-enters, typically at a U.S.-Canada border point, to have their immigration paperwork processed quicker. This has been a common shortcut for students to receive work permits or extend their stay without the typical wait times.

Due to this practice, about 20% of PGWP applications were processed at the border from March 2023 to February 2024, often causing delays and stretching border resources. To enhance fairness and efficiency, all PGWP applications must now be filed within Canada through an improved online system, promising faster processing times.📈

Remember, after graduating, your study permit allows you a 90-day period to apply for your PGWP online.✅
