Can you change your study program or school after you submit your Canadian study permit application?
You can change your school or study program, but it may have some requirements.
For change of college or university:
1. Before a study visa decision is made (under processing): For this, you’ll need to notify Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). You will not need to pay a new study permit application fee. Doing this may require you to provide updated documents.
2. After a study visa decision is made and before travelling to Canada (after visa approval): For this, you’ll need to apply for new study permit with updated documents and pay a new application fee.
3. After you arrive in Canada (after getting your study permit & enrolling in your initial study program): For this, you’ll need to inform IRCC. You don’t need to apply for a new study permit or pay another visa application fee.
For change of study program which does not require a change of college or university, you don’t need to contact IRCC or apply for a new study permit.
