📢 Latest News from IRCC 📢🇨🇦🍁

On August 14, 2024, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced a new plan to attract more French-speaking international students and immigrants. The goal is to strengthen Francophone communities across Canada, especially outside Quebec.

The Francophone Minority Communities Student Pilot (FMCSP) lets French-speaking students from certain countries get a study permit and gives them a chance to live in a Francophone community outside Quebec after graduation. Participants can use settlement services while studying and may be able to apply for permanent residence later. The program starts on August 26, 2024.

In addition to FMCSP, IRCC Minister Marc Miller announced that 10 more communities have joined the Welcoming Francophone Communities (WFC) initiative:

✔ Nanaimo in British Columbia
✔ Red River in Manitoba
✔ Chéticamp in Nova Scotia
✔ Belle-Baie, Caraquet, and Restigouche West Region in New Brunswick
✔ Prince Albert in Saskatchewan
✔ Cornwall, Cochrane District, and London in Ontario

This initiative shows Canada’s dedication to its Francophone heritage and its goal of building a strong, inclusive, and multicultural society.
